I have to be honest, when I first heard about Yumi from a fellow instagram blogger, I thought it sounded too good to be true. I am a huge believer in the idea that what we feed our kids (especially in the beginning) really impacts their development. But, I am also a mom to two little ones, working full time, growing my side hustles and volunteering. So, long story short… we don’t have the time to prepare healthy meals and snacks ALL the time!
Enter Yumi! A company that offers fresh (they are made weekly!), organic baby food with a variety of superfoods and spices. With over 100 food options, Yumi will introduce your little one to so many healthy foods, helping them develop an adventurous palate. I can’t wait to try Yumi with Konner when he is ready to eat solids. But, we got lucky and Yumi sent us some toddler bites to try with Kooper!
Baby food adventures with Kooper
With Kooper, I tried to make homemade baby food, but struggled because I was working, learning how to be a mom and trying to juggle everything. It wasn’t sustainable and I gave up a few weeks into it. Realistically, going back to grocery store offerings was the only option. I did my best selecting the “best” they had to offer, but oftentimes felt like it was an exercise in futility. I often felt guilty that I wasn’t giving my son the best possible option (and let’s be real – some days just call for mac n’ cheese), but I like to keep it as healthy as possible.
In my opinion, something that is shelf stable for so long should raise questions – what is actually in there? It’s obviously processed, filled with preservatives and likely high in sugar. The University of Washington says that 80% of your baby’s brain formed by the age of two and nutrients play a key role in that. I want to ensure that my kids have the best early childhood development as possible! Want to read more about maternal and child nutrition and early childhood development? Toddler Fingerfoods & Combos
Yumi graciously sent us toddler food samples for Kooper and he is a big fan! So far, his favorites are the beet puffs (Mom likes them too!) and the pizza bites. These fingerfoods are so fun cuban bites, southwest bites, carrot spinach millet bites, cauliflower puffs and chickpea panisse bites. We also got some chunky combos (lentil carrot combo & carrot spinach combo) and we can’t wait to try those too!
I love having these in the freezer to pull out when I am running low on food or having a crazy day. It is such a quick and convenient option and I know he is still getting good, nutritious food. You really can’t beat it!
Why do we love Yumi?
- It is fresh and made weekly!
- They offer a variety of options (100+), which not only is impressive, but also a great way to introduce your little one to many different types of foods! I don’t know about you, but I want to raise adventurous and healthy eaters.
- Their nutritionist carefully creates menus for each developmental stage your child is in, maximizing the nutritious benefits.
- Many of the blends can be frozen and used when you need them (crazy day at work? empty fridge?) – hello convenience and goodbye guilt!
- And last, you can choose what works best for you – 1, 2 or 3 meals a day
Kooper and I are thrilled to partner with Yumi and we can’t wait to see what is in store for baby Konner. Cheers to raising another kid with adventurous taste buds!
